چکیده

To compare outcomes of superior capsular reconstruction (SCR), partial rotator cuff repair (PR), and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) for massive irreparable tear (MIRCT) without arthritis at more than 2 years follow-up. A retrospective analysis prospectively collected data consecutive patients undergoing surgical treatment intraoperatively confirmed MIRCT using SCR, PR, or rTSA. Preoperative postoperative were multivariate performed. Thirty two met inclusion criteria 24 42 rTSA (mean follow-up years: SCR 3.2; PR 4.0; 3.5; P = .02). The older (66.2 years; 57.3; 59.0; .0001) likely to be female (61.9%; 12.5%; 25.0%; < .001). Intraoperative evaluation demonstrated full thickness subscapularis in 37.5% 4.2% 21.4% (P .01). Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tears Without Arthritis Treated With Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty

BACKGROUND Irreparable rotator cuff (RC) tears without arthritis is a challenging clinical problem in young adults. Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) has been proposed as one of the surgical treatment options for this condition. METHODS In this review, we discuss the current understanding of the role of RTSA for the management of irreparable RC tears without arthritis based on author...

Arthroscopic Superior Capsular Reconstruction for Treatment of Massive Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tears.

Massive irreparable rotator cuff tears have been troublesome entities to treat, especially in younger patients. Few good options exist, leaving most patients in recent years receiving a reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. Reverse shoulder arthroplasty carries serious risks, a limited lifespan, and no other viable options should it fail. Recent biomechanical studies have shown that the superior...

Superior Capsular Reconstruction With Superimposition of Rotator Cuff Repair for Massive Rotator Cuff Tear

Massive rotator cuff tears are particularly challenging to treat and severely limit the function of the shoulder. Compared with a small rotator cuff tear, massive tears are more unpredictable and usually present with low tendon quality. When performing an anatomical repair of the rotator cuff, the surgical treatment is often associated with failure of the construct. An alternative procedure tha...

Arthroscopic Superior Capsule Reconstruction for Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tears.

Massive irreparable rotator cuff tears in young patients are a particular challenge for the orthopaedic surgeon. Surgical treatment options include debridement, partial rotator cuff repair, patch-augmented rotator cuff repair, bridging rotator cuff reconstruction with graft interposition, tendon transfer, and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. Recently, reconstruction of the superior glenohum...
